Packing 101

This blog post is set to go up on my blog as my plane leaves for Seattle so if you are reading this, I say hello from wherever I am! :) Let’s get started!

I am that kind of person that whenever I am going away for vacation, one of the first things that I think about are the clothes I’m gonna wear to the places I’m going to visit. So about a week before I leave, I start to come up with outfits - head to toe, accessories to shoes. For my self-standards, I would say I am an organized packer; packing is definitely one of the very few things I’m such a control-freak about. I’m not saying I’m a light-packer but I make the most out of every space I have in my luggage and that’s enough for me.

Before I come up with outfits, I just have two questions for myself:

1. How many days am I going to be away?

2. Are there any special occasions I need to dress up for?

My answer for the first question is eight days, so obviously I’m gonna need eight outfits to bring with me. That doesn’t mean I’m going to bring like eight tops and eight pairs of jeans. Sometimes, I bring dresses that count as one outfit each. Sometimes, I repeat wearing one pair of jeans only with different tops. Extra clothes don’t really take up too much space so I usually bring additional shirts, shorts, and dresses just in case something unexpected comes up or if I’m not going out and I just need to throw some casual clothes on.

For the second question, I am so excited about this ‘cause there are quite a few family occasions that need some dressing up. One, my cousin’s cowboy-themed birthday party; two, another cousin’s christening, and lastly, the 4th of July! LOL pictures might be taken on the 4th of July so, yeah, I would consider that special.

After coming up with outfits, I start to put them in my suitcase. I usually bring just one especially if it’s just a week-long vacation. I bring a LOT of stuff in my suitcase and sometimes, I don’t even know how I get everything to fit like it’s magic. Can you feel the pride in my words? I do.
