Packing 101

This blog post is set to go up on my blog as my plane leaves for Seattle so if you are reading this, I say hello from wherever I am! :) Let’s get started!

I am that kind of person that whenever I am going away for vacation, one of the first things that I think about are the clothes I’m gonna wear to the places I’m going to visit. So about a week before I leave, I start to come up with outfits - head to toe, accessories to shoes. For my self-standards, I would say I am an organized packer; packing is definitely one of the very few things I’m such a control-freak about. I’m not saying I’m a light-packer but I make the most out of every space I have in my luggage and that’s enough for me.

Before I come up with outfits, I just have two questions for myself:

1. How many days am I going to be away?

2. Are there any special occasions I need to dress up for?

My answer for the first question is eight days, so obviously I’m gonna need eight outfits to bring with me. That doesn’t mean I’m going to bring like eight tops and eight pairs of jeans. Sometimes, I bring dresses that count as one outfit each. Sometimes, I repeat wearing one pair of jeans only with different tops. Extra clothes don’t really take up too much space so I usually bring additional shirts, shorts, and dresses just in case something unexpected comes up or if I’m not going out and I just need to throw some casual clothes on.

For the second question, I am so excited about this ‘cause there are quite a few family occasions that need some dressing up. One, my cousin’s cowboy-themed birthday party; two, another cousin’s christening, and lastly, the 4th of July! LOL pictures might be taken on the 4th of July so, yeah, I would consider that special.

After coming up with outfits, I start to put them in my suitcase. I usually bring just one especially if it’s just a week-long vacation. I bring a LOT of stuff in my suitcase and sometimes, I don’t even know how I get everything to fit like it’s magic. Can you feel the pride in my words? I do.

In my previous post I said I was going to dish about something I am working on. I am not quite done yet so I don’t want to get ahead of myself and talk about it. I thought I would’ve finished everything by now but things didn’t turn out that way. I want to share as much as I could but at the same time I don’t want jinx to get in the way. I hope to get to get to talk about it soon and that’s that.

curious case of a wallflower

I love to talk. Yep, that’s as simple as it can get. I could talk and talk and talk and talk and so on…. The only thing is, there are two buts in talking. One, you must have someone to talk to - someone to listen, and two, there are things you can talk about to no one but yourself. The ultimate solution? WRITING :) I’m currently writing something; something I rather not give too much details about ‘cause I could really be such a jinx in the ass. Did I just say that?

Anyways, I read the novel “Perks of Being a Wallflower” and I admit, the first time I heard wallflower, I did not think it was what it was. Basically, a wallflower is a shy, awkward, and excluded person and in the novel, that person is Charlie. His character is possibly the only one among all other novels that I can relate to the most… Okay, I know, I’m not shy, and I hope not awkward but excluded? Now, that is a word I could use to describe myself. I’m not excluded in an oppressing or loner way but such in a deeper sense that I feel different. I observe people. I look at them and think why they do what they do. I listen to them and wonder why they say what they do. I see people on the streets and I’m curious about what they do for a living, how many kids they have, what they’re up to for the day and more. I write about all things that I think about. I never miss a thought or I hope I never miss a thought… and at the end of the day, I realize that the reason why I feel different is because we all are different! We may judge one another according to what we see or hear but the truth is, we can never really know. And I accept that, I embrace that fact. I seem to have lost the heart of this outpouring like I always do when I write but that’s the thing - I could go such long ways by just writing. Moments like this, makes me thank God that I have a (kind of) normal brain to think with, clear eyes to see and read with, and able hands to write with. And then, I imagine six billion other people that are in this exact moment that I’m in and I see… one runner being grateful for his legs, a mother grateful for her children, a foster kid grateful for finally having a family and so on….

Maybe I’m a wallflower, maybe I’m not. But as a novel title suggests, being one has its perks :) till next time -D

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I started watching The Secret Life of the American Teenager like almost a week ago and oh my gosh, hands down, one of the best series ever! Like, from the very first episode, I was hooked. In a total of six days, I finished watching three and a half seasons with 86 episodes. How crazy is that! In those six days, I didn’t have time to check my Facebook and I BARELY tweeted. I didn’t even tweet about me watching it! I was that obsessed! I’m so happy to have caught up in this series and I can’t wait for it to go back on air on March 26!

I am all for AMY AND RICKY!!!!! His valedictorian speech was just moving and so romantic. Who would’ve thought, huh!? I watch the show only for them… and Ben and Adrian or whoever that gets in the way! Oh my gosh, the excitement that I feel! I can’t wait for them to get married!

I've been dreaming of a White Christmas...

For Christmas 2011, my whole family rented a cabin for five days in Big Bear Mountain (one of the few snow destinations in Southern California) to experience a true White Christmas. The planning took one year - reservations, payments, food arrangements…etc. But in the end, it was all worth it.

Day One - Settling in!

Because most of this day was spent unpacking, looking around, and waiting for the others to arrive, the only thing special about day one is… NIGHT ONE :)

Bingo Night! Fortunately I was one of the lucky winners and I got to have one big prize.

Day Two - Snowboarding

My second time snowboarding! The first time I went was in February 2010, and I was hopeless! I could hardly turn my board. I have to say, I did a way better job this time.

Day 3 - Sledding

My cousins and I separated from the group to go snowboarding again while the others and the kids went sledding. They had the camera so, no litratos of us!

Christmas Eve

Usually, our family spends Christmas Eve all dressed up but we thought MATCHING PAJAMAS seems more appropriate with the cabin! :) My family got our pajamas at the Disney Store. How cute does my sister look in her night gown?

Apart from the usual giving of gifts, we also played Secret Santa (adults only!). Weeks before, we signed up at secretsanta.com to sort out who will give a gift to who. We were also allowed to set up our wish list so whoever our Secret Santa was can have an idea on what to get for us! I was lucky enough to have had my wish granted! Leopard heels! Thank you, Ate Annie!

We were all supposed to go to my house for drinks after but not everyone was able to get their parking space. My cousin was kind enough to let us into their home for the after-party!

I am officially allowed to drink! Although, I almost didn’t drink at all that night. I just don’t like the taste of alcohol yet. In time, in time! :) Listening to inuman conversations is always very entertaining to me anyways so I still had a good time!

Keeping up with the Kardashians? Close enough.

I noticed (no, that’s not the word for it! oh well) that my last reblog was way back in November. I think I can justify why.

November was the month where I started being crazy busy. It was the month of my birthday then came Christmas then New Year! There was also my sister’s birthday which, I just figured, I should also do a blog post about :) So I’m going on a Tumblr marathon tonight to write (or type) about these past events in my life. I’ll post the entries gradually. (wow, as if)
